Contacts without a prescription was created to share with responsible adults the knowledge that it is possible to get replacement contacts without going to an eye doctor every year.  While we recommend visiting your vision specialist each year, especially if your prescription has not been the same for at least 3 years in a row we realize there are circumstances when it would be more convenient to be able to order a replacement supply to get you through a busy period until it's convenient to schedule and make an appointment.

Do the different state laws (1 or 2 years) make sense?  Perhaps but consider this... for someone who wears daily contacts there is no legislation or restrictions that prevent an on-line customer in the US from buying 5 years or more supply of daily contacts provided they have a current script.  So the effect of the law is that a buyer with no budget concerns can effectively order contacts for 5 years without an office visit.
